Dr. Shams was born and raised in the greater Los Angeles area of Southern California.  His medical studies took him to the University of Alexandria for medical school before beginning his family medicine residency in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. With 14 years of experience in family medicine, Dr. Shams believes in getting to know his patients, establishing strong physician-patient partnerships for best evaluation and treatment outcomes.  Dr. Shams treats a variety of illnesses and works with patients to maintain good health through preventive physical exams. When not working, he enjoys hiking and spending time with his family. As an avid Lakers fan, he had the opportunity to meet Laker legend Kareem Abdul-Jabbar and also saw Kobe Bryant play at Staples Center in Los Angeles.
